Made of solid reclaimed Douglas fir beams and joined with blind 1" thick dowels, this bench is sturdy.  Remnants of its history linger: cracks from when it was a tree, nail holes from its life as structural members.  While making the leg structure, the name of the shape was elusive to the builder and everyone around her.  (It's not a parallelogram...) Finally, a few days later, it came to her: "It's a trapezoid!"
